Eric H. @ConkerIsStoned Jun 13 If you’re a fan of planet of the apes this movie is a 6.5 out of 10 in the series for me. Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is still a GREAT movie. Almost everything that makes this series great is still present in this movie AKA🫈Roddy McDowell🫈. I especially love this series for its ideologies, and how much of it can relate to today times. For this specific movie Seeing Cesar and the humans makes me feel so bad for the apes. COPOTA did a great job showing how apes are starting to become just as smart as humans but humans still see them as animals. Most makeup was still phenomenal especially for early 70s cinema. COPOTA Kept up with the new timeline just fine. I find myself rooting for the apes MOST of the time so obviously I’m on the ape side for this one. The ending for this movie does make me hyped for the next movie. I’m aware they’re alternate versions but the movie release works perfectly for me. But my favorite part of the movie has to be when the humans force Cesar to speak� See more Brighton N @RT09904023 May 30 I commend this film's bold direction, deep themes, and circular storytelling, but without fun action, an exciting cast, or breathing room, this movie is hard to rewatch. I'd recommend one viewing for its rich themes and intriguing narrative, but typically, I'll gravitate to the superior reimagining of this film instead. I recommend this to anyone who loves the first few original films, but this isn't precisely a must-watch. This is the second best of the original series. A very violence movie. The budget for this movie was a lot less then the first one. The film costed 1.7 million to make. See more Jace T @CineChamber Sep 28 Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is an excellent and unnerving movie that is a strong tale and take on the civil rights movement in the United States. While some of the story beats don't makes sense, like how the apes evolved so fast in the world of the Planet of the Apes, the feeling and emotions this film portray are the best in the series. It is in no way as iconic as the original Planet of the Apes, but it is a beautiful and dark slow burn tale that captures me on a deeper level. See more Jacob B @RT89309114 Jul 15 Probably the most divisive film in the entire Planet of the Apes franchise, Conquest does boast a strong performance from Roddy McDowall and the social commentary when keeping in mind when the film came out is not lost on me. But I definitely agree that when Rise of POTA came out, it did a much better job exploring similar ideas without having to drag time travel into the mix. Still, this film has its moments despite its budgetary constraints: the human actors remain committed without anybody seeming embarrassed to be in this type of film, I had some fun with the ape riot that forms the film's climax and I can tell the screenwriter is trying when it comes to political allegory. Sadly, moments that stretch credibility, clunky exposition and an ending that was clearly arranged after complaints about the bleak tone, despite the uncut version feeling like a more natural conclusion for this film's story, on top of having to follow the well-received Escape, make Conquest one of the weaker films in this iconic franchise. It's not bad and I respect the opinion of people who genuinely enjoy this film but I was never fully 100% into it. That's what I get for watching the thematically similar Rise first, I guess.
